Celebrating Women Hunters this International Women's Day

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women who hunt. The ones climbing ridgelines before sunrise, learning new skills in the bush, filling the freezer, and inspiring more women to get out there and give it a crack. From lifelong hunters to those who’ve only just picked up a rifle, these women are proof that the hunting community is stronger when everyone’s part of it.

    Amy-Lee Podjursky

For Amy-Lee, hunting has always been part of life. Growing up with a father who worked as a deer recovery pilot meant the hills and bush were her backyard. Today, hunting is more than a passion - it’s her career in pest management and a lifestyle built around restoring landscapes and harvesting her own meat. One of Amy-Lee’s favourite parts of hunting is taking other women into the field and watching their confidence grow as they achieve things they once thought were out of reach.

    Casey Learmond

Casey started hunting at just 15 and hasn’t looked back. For her, the mountains are where she feels strongest - empowered by the knowledge that she can provide for herself and her family. She’s passionate about encouraging more women to step into the hunting community, believing that representation matters. As Casey puts it, sometimes seeing another woman out there “absolutely crushing it in the field” is all it takes to turn a maybe one day into why not me?

    Laura Spence

Laura didn’t grow up hunting, but after heading out on her first hunt with her now husband in 2018, she quickly fell in love with it. Drawn by the adventure, the sustainability of harvesting her own meat, and the incredible places hunting takes you, she’s embraced learning everything from stalking to butchering. For Laura, it’s never been about the trophy - it’s about the experience, the memories made in the mountains, and encouraging other women to step outside their comfort zone and give hunting a go.
